AMOLF - physics of functional complex matter
EQUSPACE-project members

Prof. Ewold Verhagen
Ewold Verhagen is scientific group leader of the Photonic Forces group at the AMOLF institute in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and part-time professor of Applied Physics at Eindhoven University of Technology. His research interests span various directions within nanophotonics and nanomechanics, including cavity optomechanics, classical and quantum sensing, topological physics, and metamaterials.
Within EQUSPACE, he develops quantum acoustic waveguides and resonators and studies the interaction between spins and mechanical vibrations.

MSc. Menno Jansen
Menno Jansen is a PhD candidate contributing to the EQUSPACE project with a focus on the design and testing of acoustic and phononic structures.
His work centers on developing mechanical waveguides and resonators to optimize the coupling between mechanical vibrations and implanted donor spins. By engineering phononic confinement and dispersion, he aims to facilitate efficient spin-phonon interactions that are essential for coherent control and coupling within the EQUSPACE quantum device architecture.

MSc. Jorien van der Meulen
During my PhD at AMOLF, I will focus on designing, fabricating, and characterizing the connections in the EQUSPACE project, the nanomechanical resonators and waveguides. Through silicon phononic crystals, we can tune the acoustic resonances such that phonons can couple to the spin qubits, and thereby enabling the qubits to be coupled to each other.
